Terpenes are the newest flavoring agent for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Lavender sodas are beginning to be sold throughout the country. Containing linalool, the anti-anxiety and analgesic terpene, lavender and linalool is a perfect pairing with alcohol, especially in a situation where you need to kill some nerves like during a first date.

Companies as mainstream as Coca-Cola are beginning to eye the CBD and terpene business as cocktails containing CBD are now a full-fledged trend. However, Coca-Cola released a statement saying, “We have no interest in marijuana or cannabis,” it said. They added, “Along with many others in the beverage industry, we are closely watching the growth of non-psychoactive CBD as an ingredient in functional wellness beverages around the world. The space is evolving quickly. No decisions have been made at this time.”

Other terpene drinks have hit the market, like sparkling water infused with terpenes. Carbonated water infused with terps extracted from blackberry or lemon is a great way to enjoy some natural flavor, stay hydrated, and avoid sugary sodas. There are other brands which offer tonic water infused with terpenes, CBD, and THC, providing a relaxing or uplifting effect, depending on the terpenes.

Maybe someday soon we’ll see a caryophyllene cola or geraniol infused ginger ale on the shelves. But for now, consider making your own infused beverages.
